India Super League side Odisha FC have sacked Stuart Baxter after he made offensive comments in a frustrated post-match interview.
The English joined the side at the start of last season before weirdly losing his cool after his team lost 1-0 to Jamsedpur on Monday.
“You need decisions to go your way and we needed a penalty. I think one of my players would have to rape someone or get raped himself if he was going to get a penalty,” Baxter said during the post-match interview.
The 67-year-old’s club soon responded with a statement of regret before later terminating Baxter’s contract.
“We, at Odisha FC, unreservedly apologise and the club management will handle this matter internally,” said the club.
Baxter leaves the club rooted at the bottom with eight points from 14 games.
