Asante Kotoko will be without defender Habib Mohammed for Sunday’s trip to face Ashantigold at the Len Clay Stadium in the Ashanti Derby.
The versatile player who was used at the defensive midfield role picked up a hand injury in the Porcupines’ matchday 10 home duel with Aduana Stars as he tried to latch on a loose ball inside the away side’s penalty box and was later withdrawn.
His substitution saw Kotoko midfield fading out which weakened Johnson Smith’s side to suffer a defeat in the hands of the Dormaa based team.
However, a scan done on the player this week proves the injury is not something the Porcupines should be scared of and is likely he will start training with the team on Monday.
The 23-year-old has become a mainstay of Kotoko’ss back four since joining in 2018. He is one of the club’s most consistent performers at centre-back and has always been deployed as a defensive midfielder whenever he is needed.
He has racked up 5 appearances in the Ghana premier league so far with one Man-of-the-match award against Berekum Chelsea.
